Job description

We are currently creating a pipeline for Head of IT Support roles that we will be recruiting for across several Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks / months.

As Head of IT Support, you will: 

  • Responsible for leading the effective management of the service delivery team, to continually develop the capability and capacity of the team in line with the Digital, Data and Technology Capability Framework led by the Government Digital Service (GDS)
  • Reviewing and approving technical proposals to ensure support issues are identified and planned into projects
  • Responsible for creating service requirements and procuring IT services through competitive tendering process using Crown Commercial Services frameworks including G-Cloud
  • Maintaining an effective and robust business continuity and incident response plan
  • Creation of infrastructure strategy and roadmap covering Cyber Security in support of strategic IT strategy
  • Continue to drive consolidation of UKEF complex IT estate, centring on the Department’s strategy of “SaaS and PaaS first strategy” leveraging Cloud services and solutions where possible
  • Maintaining strong understanding of new technologies and platforms and provide direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the UKEF strategy
  • Working with other government departments and specialist bodies including MOD, FCO, DIT and DFID (Cluster 4), the National Cyber Security Committee and the Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure to continually review and improve the security posture of the department
  • Representing TCI Division on UKEF’s Security Committee

You’ll have:

  • Valid and active SC Clearance
  • Graduate level education
  • In depth knowledge of Service Lifecycle Management and ITIL
  • Broad knowledge of the drivers of high quality customer experience and customer satisfaction measurement and improvement
  • Broad and deep technology experience, with real evidence of delivery through outsourced suppliers and delivery partners
  • Extensive experience of service delivery based on Cloud, SaaS and PaaS environment

It would be great to also have:

  • ITIL qualifications - Project, change or programme management qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of the SIAM Operating Model, IT infrastructure technologies and Enterprise Architecture concepts
  • Understanding and experience of ISO 20000
  • IT/Cyber Security knowledge and experience of ISO 270001
