Project Planner (InsideIR35)

Contract Term: 6 Months - (Please note this contract is only a 4 day working week)

Contracting Authority: UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)

Location: Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire – Hybrid – 3 days on site, 1 day WFH

 

Job Purpose:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Planner to join STFC Accelerator Science and Technology Centre at Daresbury Laboratory for an initial 6 months to help update and develop the project schedules.

You will be working within the Programmes Group at the Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire with responsibilities for delivering projects plans within the ASTeC programme.

Candidates must be experienced Project Planner with a proven track record of significant project delivery on large scale complex projects.

 

As a Project Planner, your main responsibilities will be to: 

  • Be part of an exciting collaborative team delivering an international scientific project.
  • Be a pro-active individual, with strong soft skills.
  • Be comfortable for being responsible for creating, managing and maintaining project schedules on Microsoft Project.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders (Internal) to ensure effective and efficient implementation of project plans.
  • Be highly motivated and passionate about the work you do.
  • Support the delivery of complex technical projects whilst being responsible for managing the project schedule.
  • Assist in the delivery of project management plans and schedules.
  • Work alongside management to identify tasks and assign responsibilities/resources.
  • Monitor progress; analysing variances, earned value management (EVM) and schedule performance monitoring.
  • Prepare project status reports for the project manager.

You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • Experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Proficient knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure.
  • High level of knowledge and demonstrated experience using Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills
  • Have strong computer skills and be experienced in the use of MS Office, including SharePoint.
  • Be prepared to work flexibly to meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to execute tasks independently, yet work collaboratively within a team
  • Experience creating and reporting on a probabilistic schedule.

Desirable:

  • Formal qualification in Project Management e.g. APMP or Prince 2
  • HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline because of the technical nature of the project delivery model.
  • Support the delivery of complex technical projects whilst being responsible for managing the project schedule.
