Project Management Assistant – Inside IR35

Contract Term:  6 months

Contracting Authority: Network Rail

Location: Hybrid Working (3 days per week office based – Birmingham)

Job Purpose:

This role is within the Buildings, Civils and Lineside team (BCL). You will be working on the Central & West Coast Mainline South Routes based at Baskerville House with responsibility for supporting Buildings projects being delivered for the Principal Route Engineer. These projects vary in complexity and scale with AFCs typically ranging from £8m to £0.5m. You will be supporting a team of Project Managers and Scheme Project Mangers including in CDM compliance and PACE compliance.

This is also a good opportunity to gain experience of delivery as well as development for those looking to start a career in Project Management in Network Rail. As you develop in skills and experience you will also be taking on small non-complex projects alongside supporting Scheme Project Managers.

 

As a Project Management Assistant your main responsibilities will be to: 

  • Work as part of a project team, assisting to deliver projects to time, cost and quality through various phases in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Monitor and report programme and progress in accordance with project reporting systems and guidelines.
  • Develop and integrate, effective support systems to enable the Project Manager to manage and control change.
  • Process contractor possession and isolation applications so that they applications are complete and submitted to the prescribed time scales as directed.
  • Monitor contractor performance indicators and provide periodic progress reports.
  • Support the Project Management team in always providing a safe working environment during the execution of those projects under their responsibility.
  • Manage generic and site-specific methods of working and supply risk assessments to agreed timescales.
  • Monitor so that HSQE risk assessments have been carried out by the contractor and monitor compliance.
  • Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

 

 

You’ll have: 

  • Some management experience including project management.
  • Admin/secretariat experience
  • MS Office including Word & Excel experience.
  • Educated to HND/HNC or similar standard.
  • HSQE awareness, issues, and principles.

 

 

Desirable: 

  • MS Project
