Project Planner - (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 6 months

Contracting Authority: MOD

Location: Hybrid – up to 3 days a week on site at Andover / Remote Working

We are looking for an experienced Scheduler to join the team and play a leading role in the Army’s Modernisation. This is an exciting and challenging role that offers the chance to create a real difference in Defence, reporting directly to the Assistant Head MIP, the successful candidate will use Project Online and associated tools to build and maintain the MIP schedule, using information being supplied by multiple engaged sub-plan owners. The sub-plans include Training, New & in-service Equipment, Doctrine, People, Logistics, and Infrastructure. By bringing coherence to these sub-pans, the post holder will be able to assist in identifying a critical path to the Modernisation of the Army through a series of Capability Milestones

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks

As a Project Planner, your main responsibilities will be

  • Create and maintain programme and project level schedules in MS Project (Project Online).
  • Produce and maintain the Master Schedule with support from stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on technical aspects of MS Project, and POL, as required.
  • Work with Stakeholders to ensure regular Schedule reviews take place, and update Schedules within 2 working days of each review.
  • Work with the Dependency Managers to ensure dependencies are captured. 
  • Ensure compliance with planning and scheduling policies, including delivery of schedules to the quality level demanded by the Portfolio Management Office.
  • Act as the MIP schedule SME.
  • Support MIP sub-plan owners by providing planning and scheduling advice and techniques, as required.
  • Support the MIP Team in the identification and analysis of risks.
  • Support regular risk reviews with Stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  • Act as the programme and project risk SME.
  • Ensure all requests for Management Information drawn from the corporate planning and risk tools are met in an accurate and timely manner.

Essential Skills

  • A strong background in Programme & Project Management, with Scheduling experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Project Online (POL).
  • The ability to communicate in a straightforward, honest, and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact.
  • Have strong problem solving, planning, communication and collaboration skills and will need to demonstrate that you have insight and clear strategic understanding to ensure objectives met.
  • Can use sound judgement, evidence, and knowledge to arrive at accurate and professional decisions and advice
  • Strong self starter

 

Desirable Skills

 

  • Hold a recognised P3M qualification, such as APM PMQ, MSP Practitioner or equivalent.
