Engineering Support Officer - Inside IR35

Contract Term: 12 months with potential for extension.

Contracting Authority: Sellafield  

Location: Sellafield, Cumbria

 

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a non-departmental public body created through the Energy Act 2004.

We have 5 offices across the UK, in Cumbria, Dounreay, Harwell, Warrington and London.  We have 17 sites including the first fleet of nuclear power stations, research centres, fuel-related facilities, and Sellafield, which has the largest radioactive inventory and the most complex facilities to decommission.

We are sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and supported by Dounreay, Magnox, Nuclear Waste Services, Nuclear Transport Solutions and Sellafield. The Scottish government also has a governance role, working closely with DESNZ to ensure its expectations are met.

In this role you will provide front line technical support services and guidance to E&M delivering the objectives of the E&M Strategy and ensuring compliance across all site licence conditions, NDA specifications & Corporate strategies.

 

As an Engineering Support Officer your main responsibilities would be to: 

  • Use and maintain specialist systems, programmes, and procedures in line with agreed policies and practices.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain data records and undertake data analysis, identifying trends to contribute to internal decision making and ensure compliance with site processes and standards.
  • Where appropriate, assist in the training and development of others to appropriate standards.
  • Promote a positive customer experience, interacting with stakeholders, resolve issues and problems or refer more complex issues appropriately.
  • Support the identification, collation, and implementation of improvements for continuous development of processes to improve performance and/or practices.
  • Manage the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) & associated processes required to support the delivery of the maintenance schedule for Sellafield site.
  • Manage the systems & processes required to support the maintenance record retention for the Sellafield site.
  • Undertake all amendments to the CMMS as authorised and confirmed by the relevant paperwork.
  • Deal with local queries from plant personnel regarding system information/reporting tools before being passed to Central CMMS Helpdesk for resolution.
  • Provide user and data system administration activities of enterprise asset information systems to satisfy the application and change management requirements.
  • Provide an efficient and effective first line support of the E&M asset information systems helpdesk service.
  • Support the registration of new assets and the maintenance of asset information for existing assets to support programmes of data recovery.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Programs, including Excel.
  • Minimum a NVQ Level 3, or grade C or 4 in GCSE Maths and English.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Strong initiative and work ethic.
  • Questioning and analytical mind set.
