Nuclear Waste Engineer (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 12 months

Contracting Authority: NRS (formerly known as Magnox)

Location: Dungeness

 

PSR is working with NRS (formerly known as Magnox) to identify the most talented people on the market.

We are currently creating a pipeline for Waste Engineers for future anticipated hiring needs.

As a Nuclear Waste Engineer your main responsibilities will be: 


  • The provision of technical support within the Waste Management organisation.
  • To provide technical support to projects and relay the clear expectations of waste management.
  • To provide authoritative advice for internal and external stakeholders.
  • To carry out timely investigation of events as required and identify improvements.
  • Contributing to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.
  • Supporting the effective deployment of company-wide policies, processes, systems and procedures ensuring that at all time the business remains compliant. This includes, but is not limited to, the need to comply with the company’s Equality and Diversity Policy and undertake identified associated learning and development activities.
  • Collating technical waste performance information for analysis against waste management performance objectives and schedule for the Life Time Plan.
  • Assisting in preparation of safety cases under the plant modification procedure.
  • Assisting in specification of work instruction, documentation and processes.


You’ll have:

  • HNC/HND (NQF Level 5) or equivalent in a scientific, environmental or engineering discipline
    Knowledge of environmental issues including practices, policies, legislation and stakeholders relating to radioactive and non-radioactive waste management.
  • Experience in developing waste inventories together with records management.
  • Relevant experience in nuclear industry in areas of waste management.
  • Ideally, hold a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor Certificate - International Movement of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
  • Ideally, have experience in developing BATs as well as knowledge of site waste management processes and procedures.
