Please note this role will require candidates to be willing to work between the hours of 7am and 10pm on a "5 day on 3 day off" shift pattern.

 

We are currently searching for executive officers with excellent communication skills for a contract position with the Department for Transport, Transport Security Operations Centre. This role can be based in London, Kent, or Liverpool.

The Embedded Liaison Officer will be representing the Department within another Group/Organisation and acting as the link between the two. Assessing issues, impacts and concerns, ensuring the flow of information and providing a point of contact between their home department and other departments.

As an Embedded Liaison Officer, you will: 

  • Represent the Department within the IG by receiving regular briefs from the home Department to ensure situational awareness is constantly maintained and that you have a thorough understanding of the Department’s key issues. You will also be required to put forward the Department’s view at formal meetings and engage proactively with other IG staff to ensure that all are aware of the Department's position;
  • Help produce IG Situation Reports by ensuring that the IG Secretariat is aware of their Department’s Situation Reports once they have been published.
  • Provide a point of contact between your home Department and other Departments in the IG and from other IGs who require communication with your Department
  • Present Departments’ issues, impacts and concerns, highlighting to other Departments’ IG Liaison Officers where impacts could lie elsewhere
  • Maintain a close watch on the other Departments’ Situation Reports to identify impacts and issues that will have an impact on your own Departments’ operations or sectors
  • Feed messages, requests or ‘asks’ to your own Departmental Operations Centre from other Departmental IG Liaison Officers and manage the information flow between them

  • The ability to critically evaluate and sense-check information across a range of different subject areas.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to engage and influence a range of internal stakeholders of varying seniority.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 suite of products in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.


It would be great to also have:

  • A general understanding of UK transport networks and the work of the Department.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment often under pressure
