We are currently creating a pipeline for Commercial Lead roles that we will be recruiting for across several Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks / months.

As Commercial Lead, you will: 

  • Provide commercial policy and special project support (eg- BREXIT, SMEs, Outsourcing and CIPS Standards) to DHSC core, and where appropriate, on a wider basis across the Health Family
  • Manage and build close working relationships with external advisers and stakeholders to ensure expert advice that is fit for purpose
  • Ensure the Procurement Division has clear project plans and deliverables in line with best Procurement practice
  • Establish clear, concise and objective management reporting and KPIs on progress, status, issues and risks
  • Carry out feasibility studies and business case development to a high standard
  • Manage audit activity that are appropriately challenging and assure good commercial outcomes
  • Review and assess on an ongoing basis any and all options to drive continuous improvement across the Division in relation to optimum operating model, team design and any other opportunities to enhance effectiveness and service levels

You’ll have:

  • OJEU, Public Procurement, Commercial, Contract Management, Strong Interpersonal Skills, Stakeholder Management, Numerical, Leadership; Line Management responsibilities, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Experience of developing best practice governance, procedures and policies which protect the business from risk Experience Required
  • Experience managing large scale procurement contracts in a logistics and transport environment
  • Proven multi-disciplinary experience in operational, contract, commercial and project management, contract management experience in a client-facing role or a Procurement setting
  • Experience in setting and managing budgets and performance management
  • Strong people management skills


It would be great to also have:

  • MCIPS / FCIPS / ACCM / MBA
  • Experience in Healthcare, Category Management, Negotiations, Business Case, Category Expertise (logistics, infrastructure, medical, professional services)
  • Strong track record within logistics procurement
