SAP Basis Technical Consultant - Outside IR35

Contract Term: 18 Months

Contracting Authority: AWE

Location: Aldermaston, Reading (Fully Onsite)

 

*Please note: This role requires DV clearance. Candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo screening as a minimum.

 

What if you could work on something that you can’t test… but cannot afford to fail? Something that could have spent years on a submarine, is launched into outer space (where the temperature is below -250c), comes hurtling through the atmosphere, being heated up and shaken and then must work? AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. Responsibilities:

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and perform core BASIS activities such as systems/servers’ administration, transports management, Fiori launchpad configurations, web dispatcher/router setup, high-availability, and disaster recovery setup, database administration, performance tuning, etc.
  • Review and integrate all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements.
  • Review and integrate technical architecture requirements.
  • Provide input into final decisions regarding hardware, network products, system software, and security.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems.
  • Provide technical support for SAP systems.
  • Perform system upgrades and patches to ensure the system is up to date.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documents and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams to design, implement, and manage SAP systems.
  • Participate in change management processes.

 

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience of SAP Basis administration in large environments, preferably running SAP Business Suites including S/4 HANA.
  • Proficiency in SAP system performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting HANA and Oracle databases.
  • Participation in a minimum of 2-3 implementations of SAP systems.
  • Ability to take ownership of work activities and bring them to a timely and efficient conclusion.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams across regions.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Led the implementation of SAP systems across multiple technical landscapes.
