We are currently recruiting for a Senior Software Developer

Department of Health and Social Care - Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

This Senior Software Developer role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute and take a leadership role within the Transformation Division (TD) and enable the growth of the Delivery and Engineering function, extending your technical knowledge with challenging projects and the use of a wide range of technologies including open source, microservices, cloud and low code tech.

This role is part of the Delivery Group (DG) and reports directly to the Head of Engineering and will assist in the leadership of cross-functional project-based teams that are empowered to rapidly iterate and release new features. The role requires close cooperative working with other members in TD, as well as regular liaison with users, other departmental teams, and the wider agency.


As a
Senior Software Developer, you will be: 

  • Leading technological decisions to guide good engineering of Microsoft’s .NET stack to develop and support software upon which CPRD’s data collection and processing services, research applications, website, and APIs depends.
  • Ensure that systems are elegant, robust, and can scale to handle very high throughput of data.
  • Responsible for guiding multiple engineering teams to multiple, diverse projects including developing T-SQL procedures for database extract, transform, load (ETL) services, creating Python scripts for text and data analysis, and utilising Microsoft XAML user interface technologies to create user applications.
  • Work with teams, especially Tech Leads and Delivery Leads, to establish the most valuable enablers to pursue.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and support teams with technology and process enablers to support agile delivery and DevOps ways of working

 

You’ll have:

  • Expert knowhow on Open Source, Cloud First, Microservices and DevOps principals and its associated industry commoditised technology like React, NodeJS, Rust, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, Terraform and Docker.
  • Established good engineering practices on integrating and delivering in low code platforms such as Appian and Mulesoft.
  • Established delivery engineering teams for success in delivering the full tech stack.
  • A conceptual understanding of SQL and database modelling
