We are currently searching for experienced Heads of Delivery that we are recruiting for on behalf of NHS Digital for a 12month initial contract. This role will be based in Leeds, but will be worked from home initially until there is a return to Business as Usual.

As the Head of Delivery this role will play a key part in and be responsible for the delivery of the API & IOPS work programme and associated objectives, managing, supporting, and directing the team, whilst engaging and managing a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The Digital Head of Delivery is responsible for the ensuring that NHS Digital:

  • Has the capability to build (both on an ad hoc basis and as part of routine service delivery) and support others to build e.g. external developers, APIs to securely increase access to, and use of our data and services to support the delivery of better health and social care outcomes
  • Is able to deliver the requirements of our sponsor NHSx to design, develop and maintain interoperability standards for Health and Social Care. This includes completing the new Release 4 of the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard for all four UK nations
  • Can deliver a set of APIs that support the new market entrants
  • Has a clear roadmap for deliveries
  • Has built close relationships with other delivery heads in platforms, Data Services and Product development in order to understand and map out API delivery across the organisation

 

The skills, experience, and attributes required to successfully lead the delivery of the API & IOPS teams work programme include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Advanced in-depth professional knowledge in several disciplines both managerial e.g. finance, planning and performance management, as well as project and programme management including agile and lean practices, tool, techniques, and governance;
  • Advanced knowledge of the political and cultural aspects of delivering change across complex organisations;
  • Proven ability and supporting experience of successfully delivering a portfolio of digital products and services within a large complex programme environment and across organisational boundaries involving multi-disciplinary teams particularly in relation to the development and implementation of IT solutions;
  • Inspiring a shared purpose in, and communicating with others to create credibility and trust, making long term goals desirable and achievable;
  • Proven experience of directing planning, scheduling, and estimating for complex and large scale / high profile projects and programmes.
  • Proven experience of making sound judgements and taking critical decisions throughout the lifecycle of the programme when faced with uncertainty, ambiguity and incomplete information;
  • Extensive experience and ability to manage complex stakeholder networks and expectations at senior levels (to Director level) providing value-adding strategic guidance, insights, and input;
  • Proven experience of large national contract management methods and the utilisation of effective matrix management techniques.
