Please note that this role will involve shiftwork including weekend working between 7am and 10pm

 

We are currently searching for Operations Officers that we will be recruiting for on behalf of the Department for Transport for a contract position running through until the end of March 2021.

The Operations Officers will be the first point of contact for all matters affecting the UK Maritime Industry. Officers will work collaboratively over a shift to triage requests from the central Departmental Operations Centre, engage with subject matter experts and produce high quality daily reports. These roles may be demanding and involve working at pace, accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

As Operations Officer, you will: 

  • Provide the frontline desk for all maritime directorate issues
  • Pass requests as appropriate to wider contacts in Maritime Directorate
  • Feed responses from Maritime Directorate back into Departmental Operations Centre
  • Escalate incidents to team lead and senior management as needed
  • Create, resource and manage rota for frontline desk support
  • Produce daily Situation Report (SITREP) and other regular reporting for Secretary of State
  • Maintain Activity Log

You’ll have:

  • At least 2 A levels or equivalent
  • Strong organisational skills with a flexible approach and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities when under pressure
  • Proficient in using Microsoft software, mainly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience of working on projects and coordinating the work of others
  • Experience of delivering against complex and competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to build strong working relationships within the team, with others in the organisation and as well as external key contacts


It would be great to also have:

  • Educated to Degree level
  • Experience of working in central government
