Digital User Researcher (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 11 Months   

Contracting Authority: The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office

Location: London/Glasgow

Rosa is a shared IT platform that enables communication and collaborative working at SECRET across the majority of UK and devolved government departments and sensitive industry partners.

The Rosa Service Organisation provides fixed and mobile SECRET products and services in 166 countries across the globe, allowing our users to create and share information securely.

We use some of the most innovative and exciting information security technology in the world to protect our national interests whilst enabling our users to work in far more efficient ways than any previous solutions have allowed.

As a Digital User Researcher your main responsibilities will be:  

  • Work closely with our Product Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Experts and Service Designers to help define our partner-facing and internal products and services.
  • Work with them to identify, define and plan a range of user research activities to support the design, development and continuous improvement of your products.
  • Define user research strategies, methods, questions and discussion guides for your products.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and users across all levels of Government to understand user needs.
  • Be responsible for recruiting and debriefing user research participants and collecting research data online or by moderating research sessions held in person.
  • Work with colleagues to analyse research data and synthesise them to produce clear and actionable findings, building a rich picture of user behaviour and user needs.
  • Communicate these findings to help your product teams and the wider organisation develop a deep understanding of your users, by producing clear but detailed user research reports and presentations.
  • Work with your product teams to convert user research findings into user needs and journeys for information, and into user stories, tasks, and bugs for implementation.
  • Contribute to the identification and analysis of processes and problems that may affect the successful adoption of your products.

You’ll have relevant experience in: 

  • Planned and conducted research using a range of research methods to understand user / consumer behaviour, needs and motivations to provide an evidence base for product development decisions.
  • Created and critiqued research reports and presentations that inform the design of features and products within a defined period.
  • Clearly communicated and documented research so that user needs and usability issues can easily be actioned by your product teams.
  • Applied ethical research practices.
  • SC Clearance and British Nationality is essential requirement.
  • Worked in an IT environment that is developing many products at once using agile or lean ways of working.
  • Contributed user research to products being managed through a defined product lifecycle.
  • Researched a user base with diverse needs.
