Job description

We are currently recruiting Secretariat Support roles on behalf of the Department for Transport based in London.

Responsible for communicating and resolving policy issues within the Department, working closely with the Operations cell to monitor situations across sectors, direct horizon scanning activity and identify and flag emerging issues that will likely impact the central response.

Responsible for commissioning papers, clarifying tasks, briefing private offices and ensuring that all actions and tasks that arise from decisions being made by Senior Officials, Ministers or at COBR are delivered on time.

As Secretariat Support, you will: 

  • Sending commissioning emails for briefings as required and papers to relevant teams within TSOC and across the wider Department.
  • Support the Policy Lead in collating returns into a concise and informative brief for the Minister or Official attending the meeting.
  • Commissioning actions from meetings as required by the policy lead.
  • Updating the Policy Cell’s forward look with the dates and times of upcoming meetings and other appointments that relate to the policy area.
  • Including CM Action Secretariat in all emails opening and closing actions.
  • Help manage the incoming emails in the policy area’s inbox.
  • Ad-hoc support for other policy leads depending on workflows.
  • Ensuring you have regular contact with your policy lead throughout the shift.

Please note this role will require candidates to be willing to work between the hours of 7am and 10pm on a "5 day on 3 day off" shift pattern.
