Job description

R or Python Developer (Inside IR35)

Job Description

Resource is required for a 2-3 month period to deliver a tool that allows HM Court and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) to automate text analysis of user feedback collected via customer surveys. We currently have a number a surveys live across multiple HMCTS service lines, and across different channels; webchat, digital, CTSC telephone. When completing surveys users are asked to provide free-text comments in addition to 'closed' questions within the survey. Analysis of this free-text therefore provides a rich source of insight into understanding users' experience of our services and what is driving these views, helping us to better target areas for service improvement and better design solutions.

Delivery

By the end of the contract the individual will have:
 - built and delivered a fully functioning tool in R code or Python, as per description outlined above; that will prepare the free text for analysis using standard NLP techniques (e.g. stop-word removal, spelling correction, stemming/lemmatisation, tokenisation, word embedding), then use Machine Learning methods to automatically categorise large volumes of free text when supplied examples of hand labelled free text of the main topic (or topics) and the sentiment.
 - provided necessary documentation detailing methodology used and operator guidance
- trained HMCTS staff in operation of the tool to a sufficient level that no additional on-going support is required.

Given above deliverables, the resource will need to have extensive knowledge and experience of NLP text preparation methods, a wide variety of text classification Machine Learning methods and their strengths and weaknesses, and ideally sentiment and topic analysis experience. They will need to be able to demonstrate experience developing NLP methods and tools using R that have been used in real-world business contexts.
