This role is in the Buses and Light rail restart team and will need to be able to work at pace in order to support policy development that enables the bus sector and light rail sector to operate effectively and at maximum capacity as the sector restarts, including developing support packages as required.

As Project Coordinator you will:

  • Support the assessment of wider Government objectives and their impact on the bus and light rail sectors, identifying gaps in the support required and the effect of this on meeting these objectives. An example of this could be how education impacts on bus travel and working with DfE colleagues to manage this risk and ensure plans are in place to manage this; or identifying policy options for meeting a target on service levels.
  • Identify opportunities for increasing service levels or capacity, and developing policy to help the sector manage these and risks that arise.
  • Support the development of any support packages that are required in addition to standard Government support schemes, such as financial support (grants, loans, tax relief) or the relaxation of guidance, regulations or obligations etc.
  • Assist the stakeholder and briefings team by ensuring that support measures and impacts are incorporated into the division’s core script and Q&A, and providing policy lines for briefings, meetings, correspondence and PQs.

You’ll have:

  • Strong project coordination/organisational skills , keen to learn new skills and can deal with uncertainty. You keep in mind the bigger picture and look beyond the status quo to see how things could be improved.
  • Good communication skills and produce work of the highest quality, suitable for senior official and ministerial audiences, including Directors General, DfT Ministers and N10.

It would be great to also have:
