Operational Lead (Inside IR35)

Are you an Operational Lead/Operations Manager with experience leading and managing a team within a Programme / Project environment?  If so we would like to hear from you!

As Operational Lead, you will: 

  • Lead and manage Department  Operations Team (including the Briefing Manager and Operations Officers on shift)
  • Delegate operation Officer roles to that shift’s operations officers, and record this delegation in the Department Operations Log
  • Proactively advise Head of Department  on key issues
  • Coordinate with the Policy & Commercial Team Lead
  • Coordinate and share information and issues arising with the Departmental Operations Centre (DOC) team
  • Review and authorise Daily Situation Report (SITREP) and Department  briefings
  • Be the primary point of contact for DfT EU Exit Operations Centre
  • Maintain situational awareness of operational deadlines

 

You’ll have:

  • At least 2-3 years operational management experience in a high performing team
  • Experience of working in a complex Programme / Project environment, with demonstrable skills involving pro-active forward planning, with knowledge of operation and project management concepts and processes
  • Experience in managing and leading a team, achieving targets set out by senior management
  • Experience providing strategic and commercially sound advice and expertise in a fast paced environment
  • Proven experience in influencing senior internal and external stakeholders
  • The ablity to illustrate how to successfully lead a team or manage a project
  • Flexibility in your approach to work as shifts on a rota basis will be required for the role

It would be great to also have:

  • Experience of working in central government, service experience
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner level qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in freight/logistics/transport sector
