Strategy Partner Outside IR35

Contract Term: 9 months

Contracting Authority: AWE

Location: Reading Aldermaston up to 3 days a week

 

What if you could work on something that you can’t test… but cannot afford to fail? Something that could have spent years on a submarine, is launched into outer space (where the temperature is below -250c), comes hurtling through the atmosphere, being heated up and shaken and then must work? AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. Working to support the defence of our country, AWE has a clear mission: to keep everyone, the environment, their products and information, sites, and everything around them, safe and secure.

As a Strategy Partner, your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Definition and delivery of elements of company process ‘Manage Business Strategy’.
  • Analysis of external environment to identify strategic trends, risks, issues and opportunities, with assessment to identify the key strategic drivers for AWE; gather information from SMEs internally and externally; input to Annual Strategic Assessment.
  • Strategic issues analysis and decision support, including strategic studies, strategic risks and uncertainty.
  • Development of long-term capability management strategy, working across business.
  • Development of future warhead and business scenarios to test long-term capability.
  • Stakeholder analysis and mapping - e.g. AWE maintain System of Interest, Nuclear Environment Timeline.
  • Build and maintain network across AWE to achieve internal stakeholder support on key strategic issues.
  • Develop materials and provide support to strategy roll-out, implementation, review and monitoring.
  • Maintaining AWE’s Corporate Strategy and supporting business area strategies by supporting and/or facilitating senior leaders to review and refresh strategic goals and objectives.
  • Manage relationship with any contractors supporting strategy sub-function and provide budgetary forecasts.

DV Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.

Essential:

  • Experience in writing and delivering strategy.
  • Experience in creating and presenting transformation plans.
  • Creating written documents
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement

Desirable:

  • Public sector
  • Stakeholder mapping
  • Horizon scanning and future planning.
