We are currently creating a pipeline for Digital Content Designer roles that we will be recruiting for across several Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks / months.

As Digital Content Designer, you will: 

• Make sure all content published since September 2018 is accessible – this includes GOV.UK plus our campaign sites
• Make all older core guidance content accessible by September 2020 - over 1,000 PDF files on GOV.UK plus content published to our campaign sites

You’ll have:

• Experience of preparing accessible digital content in a range of formats including tagged PDFs in Adobe Acrobat
• The ability to evaluate and test the accessibility of online publications (eg using Adobe Acrobat and screen reader software) and work out solutions for improving them
• An understanding of web accessibility guidelines and standards, particularly the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and manage updates to large volumes of content
• The ability to communicate confidently and deal effectively with individuals at all levels within the organisation, providing accessibility guidance and sharing knowledge where necessary
• The ability to work under pressure and unsupervised to tight deadlines
• Experience in content design, editorial and writing in plain English for GOV.UK or a similar large website
