GP IT Futures Project (https://digital.nhs.uk/services/future-gp-it-systems-and-services) has a vision to deliver changes in the technology landscape to support the transformation of primary care

The objectives of the GP IT Futures programme are to:

  • Provide clinically safe and useful digital services and data services for patients and general practice, ensuring minimal disruption to care for citizens as new tech standards or suppliers are introduced
  • Move to open, modern, cloud native architectures, with consistent technical and data standards
  • Reform the commercial landscape of GP and primary care IT to provide an open, dynamic and competitive market
  • Put NHS and patient users at the centre of the design, underpinned by user research and with regular iterations.


As Digital Technical Architect, you will: 

  • Ownership: Technical Architecture design for capabilities and solutions that support the operation of the GP IT Framework
  • Ownership: Technical Architecture design for interoperability between systems and solutions on the GP IT Framework as well dependent systems, identifying opportunities for system improvement as well as resolving technical and architectural debt
  • Ownership: Providing architecture oversight & direction to several delivery & product teams, ensuring alignment with NHS Digital principles and the GPIT Technical Vision and roadmap
  • Contributing to the ongoing maintenance and uplift of standards that form the basis of the GPIT Framework capabilities
  • Contributing to the GP IT technical and data strategies that will identify key technical enablers on the GPIT futures roadmap
  • Contributing to the support with the development of end user and supporting technical guidance

 

You’ll have:

  • Applications & Infrastructure-focussed technical architect with demonstrable experience of working successfully with varied development teams in a fast-paced cloud-based environment.
  • Experience of delivering high volume solutions
  • Experience of interoperability between systems
  • Experience of architecting large-scale solutions on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platforms


It would be great to also have:

  • Knowledge of NHS GP solutions
  • Experience of interoperability within Healthcare systems and associated standards (eg FHIR or HL7v3)
  • Knowledge of authentication standards (eg OIDC, Oauth2, FIDO)
  • Knowledge of Event Based Architectures
  • Knowledge of DevOps
