Policy Lead (Inside IR35)

As a Policy Lead, you will:

  • Be responsible for successfully delivering evidence-based end to end complex and strategic projects working with diverse stakeholders and virtual teams on policy-oriented programmes
  • Design policies that take account of legal environment; EU considerations
  • Provide guidance on policy and regulatory appraisal including effective anticipation of risk
  • Ensure policies; programmes and services are on track and deliver desired outcomes
  • Provide advice on the presentation and implementation of policies; and ensure policy interventions are communicated effectively
  • Use information from analysts, statisticians and social researchers to support policy design

 

You’ll have:

  • The ability to accurately assess options and support others to recommend policy options which align with the underlying problem, especially when under intense time pressures
  • A willingness to challenge poor data/evidence
  • The ability to identify credible alternative assumptions and assesses their implications for economic /business benefits
  • The ability to identify any potential conflicts of interest in policy development and handle them sensitively
  • An in-depth understanding of how and when to react in unexpected situations, e.g. crisis management
  • The ability to use risk management and assurance processes effectively to ensure accurate and timely consideration of stakeholder input
  • The ability to engage tactically and strategically with suppliers and commercial experts to achieve the best possible outcome; ensuring that policies deliver value for money for the taxpayer and to ensure that security standards are considered
