Category Manager (Inside IR35)

As a
Category Manager, you will: 

  • Manage commercial agreements through launch, maintain, performance and expiry (re)new procurement stages of their life cycle in line with CCS standard ways of operating (SOPs)
  • Execute commercial management principles to utilise leverage, benchmarking and market knowledge to deliver increased value and manage commercial risk
  • Liaise with customers (users of the Commercial Agreements) and stakeholders both within Central Government and the Wider Public Sector to establish, and enact, appropriate retention and growth of spend through the Commercial Agreements
  • Be responsible for the setup and execution of customer retention and growth plans in conjunction with CCS customer account teams and suppliers to meet or exceed targets of centrally managed spend through commercial agreements
  • Develop close and collaborative relationships with colleagues in the Strategic Category, Procurement and Sourcing Teams, Customer Account Management teams in order to ensure the delivery of superior service, increase uptake of the Commercial Agreements and value for money
  • Manage suppliers on Commercial Agreements and support SRM initiatives accordingly; including the development of supplier plans for growth, conducting supplier reviews of sales, compliance to the Terms and Conditions and relevant Key Performance Indicators, performance improvement plans, cost reduction, risk management and value-added services as required
  • Support the preparation of documents (e.g. specifications, award criteria, pricing models) ready for sourcing colleagues to go to market for new/renewed Commercial Agreements to required quality and on time
  • Develop a good knowledge of Commercial Agreements in your remit acting as a source of insight and advice

You’ll have:

  • Experience in the collation, management, analysis and presentation of customer and management information to inform the creation of growth strategies and identify value opportunities
  • Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships within a commercial environment
  • The ability to build and communicate knowledge of Commercial Agreements, the suppliers and market; sufficient to engage in meaningful, challenging conversations with suppliers, customers and senior stakeholders
  • Experience of managing Commercial Agreements and suppliers including, but not limited to, the preparation and delivery of supplier and customer meetings in managing the successful performance of commercial agreements, dealing with day to day supplier and customer enquiries, maintenance and management of various performance logs, and risk management
  • A proactive approach to developing solutions in order to deliver operational and commercial efficiencies and more effective ways of working
  • An understanding of property management or facilities management
  • Ideally, some experience in a Project environment relating to (Risk, Issues, Governance, etc)
  • Ideally, some knowledge of the Energy Sector
