Are you a Service Designer with Experience in digital delivery and user centred design?  Have you strong experience in using analytical skills to translate information/feedback from end users to help support multiple accounts/projects?  If so check out the details below and apply!

Imagine having a talent that could benefit someone you’ve never met and solve problems you didn’t even know existed. Well, you do, and you can. And we’re here to help you do just that. At PSR we are the go-to place for talented contractors and temps for a rich variety of civil service jobs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Future Farming and Countryside Programme (FFCP) in Defra at a pivotal time for agricultural policy in England. We are building a range of new and improved products for our users over the next 4 years, including:

• Ways for farmers and land managers to get paid to produce public goods such as cleaner air, cleaner water, flood mitigation, carbon sequestration or reduction

• Ways to apply for and manage grants

• Animal health and welfare advice and support

• Environmental and land management advice and support

• Regulatory advice, support and enforcement

We have published some principles for how we are going to design and build these products and services. Our published principles, in the Agricultural Transition Plan, are that we will:

• Co-design policy with users

• Help farmers do the right things for their business and the environment

• Earn people’s trust in our systems and approach

• Make things as clear and simple as possible for farmers

• Make things fair and reasonable

• Make things work for those who have to use them

The Co-design team is responsible for facilitating across the programme and with our users to understand user needs and develop tools and frameworks that can help us to take a consistent approach to codesign. Users for FFCP are not just farmers. Users includes land managers, foresters, vets, agronomists, DEFRA inspectors, advisers and the operations teams that deliver our services  and many more people. Co-design means working with all of these groups in the right way, and at the right time.

These roles will help us shape the way that we engage users to design and develop our services and products – helping to develop insight and intelligence around problems and potential solutions. They will be critical in providing support across the programme to help design and shape workshops and different types of co-design activity – facilitating and coaching our product and project teams.

Successful candidates will report to our Head of Co-design and will have significant visibility and engagement with the entire programme team at all levels.

As Service Designer you will:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined team to design user focussed and successful services
  • Deliver designs that meet web standards, ensuring that key elements are built in from the outset
  • Contribute to the development and continual enhancement of products
  • Partner with colleagues to facilitate a consistent user experience
  • Build relationships and work effectively with external providers, for example user testing and user experience professionals
  • Communicate credibly with a wide range of digital delivery disciplines and talent both internally and externally

You’ll have:

  • Experience within a service design role in a digital delivery or user centred design environment
  • Strong Analytical skills in terms of translating large volumes of information

It would be great to also have:

  • Experience within Public Sector/Government
  • Experience managing own Co Design Account and working to own initiative
  • Coaching/Teaching/Facilitation experience
