We are currently creating a pipeline for Commercial/Procurement Lawyers that we will be recruiting for across several Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks / months.

As a Commercial/Procurement Lawyer, you will: 

  • Draft and advise on every part of the commercial process, from the commercial law implications of a policy, through to designing the appropriate commercial contract, ensuring that projects appropriately manage legal risk, that contracts are managed effectively, and that any disputes are resolved as effectively as possible
  • Manage risks of all types
  • Handle performance issues and disputes before they reach formal dispute resolution
  • Play a key role in instructing, working alongside and managing external law firms and counsel where additional and/or specialist advice is required
  • Work closely with legal colleagues in both DfTLA and the rest of the Government Legal Department.

 

You’ll have:

  • Good commercial and contract law experience
  • Excellent powers of analysis of legal commercial problems and sound commercial legal judgement
  • An ability to negotiate effectively and to draft commercial contracts
  • Reliable legal judgement and appreciation of legal risk
  • Sound analysis, using secure legal research to produce timely and fit for purpose advice
  • A constructive approach to solving problems and the ability to provide legally sound, risk-based advice


It would be great to also have:

  • A good working knowledge of and experience of public procurement issues is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of public law and of working with or in the public sector
