We are currently creating a pipeline for Health & Safety manager roles that we will be recruiting for across several Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks / months.

As Health & Safety Manager, you will: 

  • Champion health, safety within RWM and support the delivery of a positive health, safety culture.

 

  • Advise and provide guidance in relation to health, safety requirements and systems development. This covers both the day-to-day operations of RWM, as well as the requirements relating to the implementation of geological disposal such as site characterisation activities and the construction, operation and closure of a geological disposal facility.

 

  • In particular to advise and support the development of RWM’s arrangements for managing design and construction activities to ensure that RWM discharges its responsibilities under the Construction Design and Management Regulations.

 

  • Maintenance, development and continuous improvement of RWM’s health and safety systems, policies, procedures and work instructions to improve efficiency, meet developing organisational requirements and appropriate internal, external and international standards.

 

  • Identify and implement health, safety & wellbeing improvements in line with business objectives.

 

  • Co-ordinate effective RWM independent oversight of adherence to health, safety standards, and the investigation, reporting and effective resolution of non-conformance.

 

  • Support management of regulatory relationships and interactions and RWM’s relationship with ONR, and HSE on health, safety and welfare matters.

 

You’ll have:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent professional qualification
  • Full membership of an appropriate Professional Institution.
  • Significant understanding of health, safety and welfare best practice and proven experience of successfully developing and implementing health and safety improvement plans.
  • Significant understanding of health, safety and welfare standards and guidance and the legislation relevant to the nuclear, design and construction and site investigation activities.
  • Understanding of behavioural approaches to safety and the relevant of human factors to ensuring safety.
  • Significant experience of implementing health and safety management systems, developing reliable and resilient safety systems and processes, writing procedures and writing reports.
  • Experience of investigating the direct and root causes of health and safety incident and near misses to identify recommendations and actions to prevent recurrence.


It would be great to also have:

 

  • Experience of undertaking health and safety inspections, audits and using them with safety performance indicators to monitor organisational performance and target improvement activities.
  • Experience of developing and delivering health and safety inductions, training and briefings to a range of staff at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a range of staff at all levels.
  • Understanding of project management techniques and experience of delivery of safety improvement projects and ensuring safety in projects and programmes.
