Senior Digital Delivery Manager – Inside IR35

Contract Term: 6 Months     

Contracting Authority: Department for Work and Pensions

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in London Office)

 

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. As such, we operate on a scale that is almost unmatched anywhere in Europe and most people in Britain come into contact with us at some point in their lives.

Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:

  • Run an effective welfare system that enables people to achieve financial independence by providing assistance and guidance into employment

  • Create a fair and affordable welfare system which improves the life chances of children
  • Deliver outstanding services to our customers and claimants

About the job

What’s your favourite agile approach? Scrum, Kanban, Lean or something else?

This is not a traditional project management role, we’re looking for a passionate Agile Delivery Manager, who have experience of delivering software in an agile environment, to lead and enable a multi-disciplinary team through iterating a large-scale live service.

Our multidisciplinary teams and our delivery managers work on stuff that impacts some of the most vulnerable people in society and we’re looking for people who are as motivated by that unique purpose as we are!

Job description

  • We’re looking for someone who can do the hands-on delivery of products and end to end services. You will see them through from initiation to live.
  • You'll be a true leader who serves, steering from the front. You'll remove blockers and create the right environment for your multidisciplinary teams to succeed, helping them to self-sufficiency and creating a culture of learning and transparency.
  • You’ll use your agile expertise to build a culture of continuous improvement with high performing teams.
  • You’ll promote user-centred design, applying it to the software development lifecycle.
  • It’s a complex landscape and you’ll need your skills as a persuasive and engaging communicator. You’ll solve cross-cutting problems and use your experience of delivery to get the job done.
  • We’re hiring for a theme-team Delivery Manager: You will be working with experts in software engineering, business process design, user centred design and policy development.
  • You’ll join a thriving community of practice, where you'll share best practice, insight and support with a bunch of other talented, expert Agile Delivery Managers.

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of delivering software in an agile environment in multiple phases.
  • Promoting a culture of psychological safety in teams, managing team dynamics.
  • Having a proactive approach to learning and development of yourself and others.
  • Exemplary leadership skills with the ability to motivate high performing teams.
  • An understanding of Agile principles and practices.
