Job description

Please note this role will require candidates to be willing to work between the hours of 7am and 10pm on a "5 day on 3 day off" shift pattern.

 

We are currently recruiting Situation Report (SitRep) Supports on behalf of the Department for Transport based in London.

 

The departmental Situation Report (SitRep) is an all-source overview of the operation of the UK’s transport networks and is a key document which is shared widely within Government and with Ministers to ensure shared situational awareness. The SitRep is issued three times a day whilst the DOC is stood up.


The SitRep Support role assists the SitRep lead in collecting, processing, and collating inputs from a wide variety of data sources including policy teams, industry, and open sources.

As SitRep Support, you will: 

  • Manage information flows for the SitRep– triaging and filtering returns for the SitRep
  • Maintain situational awareness of potential transport disruption via open source reporting.
  • Flag relevant contributions and open source info to the SitRep lead.
  • Chase contributors for returns if overdue or incorrect.

You’ll have:

  • Excellent prioritisation skills, including the ability to work to extremely short deadlines.
  • The ability to respond quickly, calmly, and flexibly under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to process large amounts of complex information in a short period of time and isolate key points.
  • The ability to draw connections between varied subject areas.
  • The ability to critically evaluate and sense-check information across a range of different subject areas.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to engage and influence a range of internal stakeholders of varying seniority.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 suite of products in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.


It would be great to also have:

  • A general understanding of UK transport networks and the work of the Department.
