The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Business Analyst on behalf of the DWP.

This role is on a remote basis with a view to monthly meetings being held in Newcastle office.

As a Senior Business Analyst your main responsibilities would be: 

  • Leading 3 amigo sessions with the Scrum team
  • Creating and updating use cases and function requirements for an API
  • Updating mapping documents to reflect Swagger documents
  • Work with stakeholders incl other delivery professions, domain specialists and SMEs
  • Understand and document the needs of those business areas and user groups in terms of the business processes, data and features/functionality, and the current pain points
  • Articulate the recommended interim and end-state product requirements in appropriate forms for different stakeholder groups and work with others (such as the PM) to reach agreements on such requirements and priorities
  • Defined and agreed requirements to include (not exhaustive) data flow (inputs and sources, outputs and consumers, data mapping/processing/transformation), automation features, user (agent and citizen) features, NFRS/Constraints, risks, user journey
  • Work closely with the DM, PM and others on prioritisation and work management

 

You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • Working in an agile team/environment.
  • Use cases and function requirements for an API.
  • Exposure to JSON and/or Restful API’s (desirable)
  • Updating mapping documents to Swagger documentation
  • Creating goals and objectives for products and across initiatives
  • Stakeholder management skills at all levels
  • The ability to understand multiple backlogs and help to ensure value across a number of products
  • Mapping journeys and value streams across products and services
  • The ability to review and consider policy impacts.
  • Aiding business analysts in the selection and delivery of the right tools or techniques
  • Requirement elicitation working with consumers and internal and external colleagues.
  • Creation and maintenance of a backlog of functional and non-functional requirements
  • Requirement elicitation working with consumers and internal and external colleagues.
  • Government experience is highly desirable
