We are currently searching for Covid Winter Planning Leads that we are recruiting on behalf of the Department for Transport for a contract position running until the end of March 2021.

This role is for a Winter Planning Lead in the Regions, Cities and Devolution Covid-19 Portfolio Management Office, and the role holder will be required to be flexible in responding to a variety of ad hoc challenges that arise as part of the development and implementation of Covid-19 related response.

As Covid Winter Planning Lead, you will: 

  • Design, implement and maintain a rota system to ensure that there is sufficient capacity and resource within the team to meet the needs of the ongoing Covid-19 response work over the winter period
  • Review the operational handbook to ensure that colleagues across the Department, including those in the Departmental Operations Centre are aware of the work of RCD, and that the roles and responsibilities of the team are effectively communicated to ensure that our resources are utilised effectively
  • Plan and operationalise RCD’s wider policy on winter planning, including representing RCD at various DfT, and cross-government boards
  • Lead the monitoring, challenging and reporting of individual Project, Programme and overall Portfolio health
  • Provide an Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) function that provides the central repository of Project and Programme information, including progress and status, and provides regular summary reports to senior Portfolio management

 

You’ll have:

  • Experience of managing and co-ordinating a range of conflicting demands at pace and ensure good outcomes
  • Experience as a strong leader able to inspire your team and produce work of the highest quality, suitable for senior official and ministerial audiences, including Directors General, DfT Ministers and N10
  • Confidence in providing challenge where necessary to ensure the best outcomes are delivered
  • Strong and dynamic communication skills to deliver your message, create a strong sense of purpose, and influence those around you
